UNIVERSAL PICTURES’ THE INVISIBLE MAN TO STAR JOHNNY DEPP

The interwebz are a twitter with news that Johnny Depp has been confirmed to star in Universal Pictures’ “The Invisible Man,” a NEW iteration of the H.G. Wells novel and part of the studio’s planned shared universe of Classic Monster Movies.

At this time there are no further details on this project, including but not limited to the screen writer, director or the film’s production schedule.  According to internet sources, Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan are apparently heading up the creative process for Universal’s monster film plans, and will produce “The Invisible Man.”

Kurtzman is tapped to direct the first film in this new monster-verse, a remake of “The Mummy,” starring Tom Cruise which is scheduled to be released on June 9, 2017.

The original “The Invisible Man” film was first released by Universal in 1933, and based on the 1897 Wells novel, which starred Claude Rains and had numerous sequels.
